RULES FOR ADMINISTERING LOCAL 816 IBEW REFERRAL PROCEDURE
EFFECTIVE MAY 16, 2005
1. All applicants must register in person.
Applicants can register any time during normal work hours.
2. All applicants must re-register every 30 days or monthly prior to their original
date. Applicants can resign by these methods:
1. In person
2. U.S. Mail – postcards available
3. Fax – 270-898-2694

5. Online - with our re-sign form
Any applicant failing to re-register timely will be removed from the out-of-work list.
Applicants will not be notified when they have been rolled off the books.
To re-register by fax or e-mail each applicant must include their – Name- Current Address – Phone Number (including area code) – Local Union # -
Card# - and original sign date.
To re-register in person we request all union members to show their current dues receipt.
Postcard – re-registration – all information requested on postcard shall be provided. Postcards should be mailed in ample time of your original sign date.
DISPATCH AND JOB TURNDOWNS
Local 816 representatives will call applicants for employment at their last known phone number. Every attempt will be made to fill calls during regular work hours, but after
hour calls including Saturday and Sunday may be made to fill calls to meet the client and contractor needs.
All applicants will be allowed two (2) job turndowns without penalty (hold their slot on the out-of-work list) – Third turndown applicant will be removed from the book and must re-register in person to be put back on the out-of-work book.
The Local Union is not responsible for notifying applicant they have been rolled off book.
Any applicant not being available for referral when job would be offered shall be considered a turndown – not answering the phone or returning a call will be considered as not available. Applicant will be called at least twice before being considered a turndown.
Anyone accepting a job and not reporting for work as scheduled will be removed from the out-of-work list.
Employers right to reject an applicant for employment (Section 5.03 of the Inside Wiring Agreement) would not be considered a turndown.
Any applicant who is hired and who receives, through no fault of his own, work of 80 hours or less shall, upon re-registration, be restored to his appropriate place within his group – re-registration must be within 24 hours of his/her termination (excluding Saturday & Sunday).
DISCHARGE FOR CAUSE
An applicant who is discharged for cause two times within a 12-month period shall be referred to the neutral member of the Appeals Committee for a determination as to the applicant’s continued eligibility for referral. The neutral member of the Appeals Committee shall, within three business days, review the qualifications of the applicant and the reasons for discharges. The neutral member of the Appeals Committee may, in his or her sole discretion: (1) require the applicant to obtain further training from the JATC before again being eligible of referral; (2) disqualify the applicant for referral for a period of four weeks, or longer, depending on the seriousness of the conduct and/or repetitive nature of the conduct; (3) refer the applicant to an employee assistance program, if available, for evaluation and recommend action; or (4) restore the applicant to his/her appropriate place on the referral list.
